Aston Villa kickstarted their Premier League Cup campaign on Friday night as they saw off Hull City 1-0 courtesy of Teddy Rowe’s sublime free-kick.
With the dominant Young Lions unable to break down the Tigers, Rowe stepped up on the stroke of half-time to curl home a 20-yard set-piece off the underside of the crossbar.
The strike settled an affair which Villa dominated but could not turn their attacking threat into further reward at Bodymoor Heath, with the Young Lions now on four points from their opening two matches in Group A.
