Lucas Digne feels the key to Aston Villa’s impressive home record is the terrific backing of the club’s supporters.

The Villans saw off Brighton & Hove Albion 6-1 in our last Premier League outing on home soil - recording 10 successive league victories at Villa Park for the first time in 40 years.

The record stretches back to March and Unai Emery’s side will be looking to extend it further with West Ham United the visitors to B6 on Sunday.

And left-back Digne feels the connection between fans and players at Villa Park is crucial to the run.

Asked about the key to success at home, Digne simply responded: “The fans.

“We are playing with an amazing atmosphere and I think we have a good feeling with everybody.

“Between us and the fans, we have an amazing atmosphere.

“It’s good to win there and I think for the opponents, it’s really tough to play there.”

Digne is enjoying an impressive campaign having contributed with five assists and one goal so far.

But the Frenchman insists personal plaudits take a backseat for him, with full focus on the greater good and the success of the side.

Reflecting on his impressive contribution in the final third, Digne told VillaTV: “I’m happy with the team, which is the most important thing.

“We’re fifth in the table and I’m more focused on the team than on myself.

“But if I can help with some assists or some goals, I’m happy to.”

Villa return to action after the international break aiming to extend a four-match unbeaten run in the league.

Three successive wins were followed up with a draw across the midlands at Wolverhampton Wanderers prior to the hiatus in domestic action.

In-form West Ham arrive at Villa Park just two points and two places below Villa in the table, having lost two of their 11 matches in all competitions this term.

Looking back on the international break and to the matches ahead, Digne said: “It was a good time to rest after our victories and after our form.

“It was a good time to work hard and to keep our momentum.

“We’re in good form and we want to keep it.”

He added: “We know the league is really hard and really young.

“We want to keep this momentum as long as we can.

“It’s the most difficult thing to be consistent, we know that, and we’ll try to do it as long as we can.”
