Unai Emery said he was proud of players, staff and supporters after a 4-1 victory against West Ham United made it 11 home Premier League wins on the spin.

The head coach saw his side score two goals either side of Jarrod Bowen’s strike for the Hammers as Villa continued to keep pace with the teams at the top of the table.

Villa Park was full of positivity at the full-time whistle and throughout the game, and Emery was delighted with the energy in the stadium.

“I’m very proud of our work with our supporters and fans because we are always playing here in Villa Park, feeling something special with them,” he said.

“We are connecting with them and trying to transmit to them everything we can on the pitch, and they are responding very well. They are helping us, transmitting energy.

“I remind myself about the match against Crystal Palace when we were losing and they (the fans) were very important. Today it was the same.

“From the first minute to the 90th-minute, everyone was very involved in helping us, supporting us. I’m very happy for the supporters.”

West Ham arrived in B6 having also made a strong start to the campaign, but they were outplayed for large parts of the Super Sunday clash.

Emery was happy with how his team managed the match, especially when the visitors pulled one back to make it 2-1.

He said: “Always we have to be ready because even when we are scoring, the opposing teams have good players and good moments.

“When they scored, we had to use our experiences and try to control the game again – even when we are winning, even when we are losing.

“When they scored one goal and are trying to take the result off us, our reaction was fantastic and we scored the third goal. Then we scored a fourth with Leon Bailey and it was fantastic because we’re building this energy here with our fans.

“When we are winning like that, it’s fantastic.”
