Emi Martínez will again be assessed ahead of Aston Villa’s Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday.

Martínez missed last Sunday’s 3-1 victory at Burnley and Thursday’s Europa Conference League triumph over Hibernian due to a minor calf problem.

The goalkeeper trained at Bodymoor Heath on Friday, and he will be monitored on Saturday to ensure he is ready for the encounter at Anfield.

Head coach Unai Emery, speaking at the club’s pre-match media conference, said: “Still injured are Álex Moreno, Jacob Ramsey, Bertrand Traoré.

“Emiliano Martínez, he trained this morning. Tomorrow is the last training which will be important if he is going to be available or not. Hopefully, yes.

“And Tim (Iroegbunam) as well, is still working alone.”

Boss Emery is also hopeful his side will have fully recovered from Thursday’s European clash against Hibs as they prepare to face the Reds.

“The players who played yesterday, I think, will be ready,” added the Spaniard.

“Today was recovery for those players and tomorrow we are going to prepare for the match, hopefully there’s no surprises with the players who played yesterday and they are ready for Sunday.”
