Aston Villa Women duo Rachel Daly and Daphne van Domselaar have both been nominated for the illustrious Ballon d’Or award, awarded to the best female footballer in 2023.
Forward Daly and goalkeeper van Domselaar have made history by becoming the first Villa Women players to ever be shortlisted for the prestigious honour.
The pair have been recognised by France Football and named among 30 players in contention for the highly-respected award.
Daly, who was top scorer in the Barclays WSL last season and named PFA Players' Player of the Year, has been nominated for her superb form for both Villa and England.
van Domselaar, who joined Villa in the summer, has made the shortlist following her impressive achievements for FC Twente and the Netherlands.
The winners of the 2023 Ballon d'Or will be announced on October 30.
