Álex Moreno has returned to training ahead of Aston Villa’s home encounter against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The left-back has been sidelined since the end of May having sustained injury against Liverpool at Anfield.
But Moreno is now back training among his team-mates at Bodymoor Heath, with Jacob Ramsey and Bertrand Traoré also close to returning although this weekend comes too soon.
Diego Carlos misses out against the Eagles having hobbled off against Liverpool prior to the international break, as does Tim Iroegbunam.
Head coach Unai Emery provided an injury update at Friday’s pre-match media briefing.
“Everybody came back from their national teams really good, the players were working here as well good,” he said.
“The players who are injured are progressively getting better.
“Álex Moreno is training with the group and Jacob Ramsey is close to being with us.
“Diego Carlos and Tim are out.
“Bertrand Traore as well is close.”
