Aston Villa hero Emi Martínez spoke of his joy at helping the club reach its first major European semi-final since 1982.
Martínez was the star of the shoot-out in Lille as he saved two penalties, including the decisive spot-kick from Benjamin Andre, to seal Villa’s place in the last four of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
It was a night of pure drama in northern France as Villa, leading 2-1 from the first leg, looked to be heading out of the competition before Matty Cash rifled home an 87th-minute strike to make it 3-3 on aggregate and send the quarter-final to extra-time and penalties.
“It feels good, it feels good,” Martínez told VillaTV.
“I love this football club and playing in a semi-final for them is something incredible.
“My career keeps going up and up and you need to celebrate little victories after 42 years without a semi-final in European competitions.
“It’s remarkable.”
He continued: “I think the fans should give us a lift on Sunday against Bournemouth, there’s going to be people tired.
“And so we need the home supporters on Sunday to turn up and give us a boost to go all the way.”

Villa now progress into the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League in early May.
And goalkeeper Martínez has spoken of his desire to add the trophy to his glittering CV.
The Argentina No.1 has already lifted the World Cup, Copa América and Finalissima in the last three years.
He’s also won a host of personal accolades including the Yashin Trophy, The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper Award and World Cup Golden Glove Award.
But he wants to add more silverware to his trophy cabinet with Villa.
“We want to go all the way, we want to go all the way,” he said.
“That’s the message we’ve been saying after the game just now.
“We need to have that mentality to think when we play the next game, we need to kill the game at home.”
