The FA have announced Aston Villa will forfeit their FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup tie with Sunderland.
Following the initial match on Wednesday 24th January, the Club admitted a breach of Cup Rule 8. 19 by fielding an ineligible player.
The matter was then referred to Sport Resolutions UK for consideration by an independent tribunal.
The consequences of the tribunal mean Sunderland have been granted three points while Villa have been deducted three points.
We will finish the group stages as Group A runners-up and will therefore qualify for the knockout stages based on our points-per-game average.
The draw for the quarter-finals of the competition will be made this evening.
