Aston Villa welcome back Andrés García and Donyell Malen for Saturday’s trip to Southampton while Leon Bailey faces a late fitness test.

Right-back García and wide man Malen were both unavailable for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain, having not been included in the club’s European squad list.

The pair return to Unai Emery’s squad for this weekend’s Premier League clash at St Mary’s Stadium.

Bailey, meanwhile, has missed Villa’s last four matches since returning from the international break, but is getting closer to his comeback and will be assessed ahead of the trip to the south coast.

Manager Emery gave a fitness update at Friday afternoon’s pre-match media conference.

“We are going to train now, in one hour we are on the field,” said the Spaniard, speaking from Bodymoor Heath.

“And how they are ready, the players today.

“Yesterday we worked, of course, and at the beginning the players who were available for Wednesday will be for tomorrow. But I will check it.

“The only one is Leon Bailey, who is progressively getting better.

“Today, maybe, he is working with the group.

“If not for tomorrow, hopefully for next Tuesday he will be available.

“And coming back after they’re not in the list, Andrés and Malen for tomorrow.”
