Lucas Digne is expecting a tough afternoon against Ipswich Town this weekend, as Aston Villa return to Premier League action at Villa Park.

The Villans are looking for a fifth win in their last six home outings, having fallen to just one league defeat in B6 this season.

Digne assessed his side’s home form, and how special it is to play at Villa Park but expects the Tractor Boys to provide a difficult challenge on Saturday.

He said: “Premier League, more this year, is really difficult. We have to prepared for a tough game.

“We will play at Villa Park. It’s our fortress, and we have to show that.

“It’s nice. It’s a special atmosphere, really. It’s a big family club and you feel the fans behind you, pushing you.

“They love their club, and it’s just amazing to play there.”

Having fallen to defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last league outing two weeks ago, Digne insists Villa are determined to get back on track in their fight for European football.

The added element of Champions League midweeks has made his and his side’s task more difficult this season, but the Frenchman refuses to accept that as an excuse, as it’s where Unai Emery’s men want to be.

“This year, the Premier League is really difficult for everybody,” he added. “For all the teams, really difficult.

“It is the best league in the world, and you have to compete. I think we didn’t play our game.

“It was more difficult for sure after the Champions League, but it’s not an excuse. We want to play Champions League ever year now. It’s the objective.

“The most important thing is to be consistent. I think we are doing well, but not good enough at the moment to be in Europe.

“We are doing well, but some details, we miss it. We will do better in the second part of the season.

“Now, we have to react for the next game. We lose three points, and we have to react.”
