Aston Villa will face Club Brugge in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side were paired with the Belgian champions at Friday’s morning’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland, with the winners progressing to the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.

Villa travelled to Brugge in matchday four of the league phase, falling to their first defeat as they suffered a 1-0 reverse.

The first leg of the last 16 tie will take place at Jan Breydelstadion on Tuesday, March 4 (ko 5.45 UK), with the second leg at Villa Park on Wednesday, March 12 (ko 8pm UK).

Villa secured their place in the last 16 by finishing eighth in the league phase and qualifying automatically, where they were joined by the eight winners of the two-legged knockout phase play-offs.

Brugge finished the league phase in 24th position before triumphing over Atalanta in the play-offs, recording an impressive 5-2 aggregate win.

Friday’s Champions League draw also completed the remainder of the tournament bracket, lining up possible opponents in both the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

Should Villa progress, they will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Liverpool in the last eight, with the second leg taking place on home soil in B6.

If the Villans were to potentially secure their spot in the semi-finals, they were drawn to come up against either PSV Eindhoven, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid, again, with the second leg at home.
