Marco Asensio claimed he was “so happy” after a Player of the Match performance helped Aston Villa secure a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Villa Park.

Asensio’s second-half double helped Unai Emery’s side overturn an early deficit under the lights on Saturday night, to ensure they ended the week with five points from their three outings on home turf.

Asensio was delighted to have netted his first two goals in claret and blue, and contributed towards an important win.

“I can explain my football on the pitch, and that’s the most important.
