Unai Emery felt Aston Villa took another important step on their FA Cup journey by overcoming Cardiff City on Friday night.
The Championship side were compact and organised, proving difficult to break down and holding out for 68 minutes.
Marco Asensio was the man to end their resistance before adding a second with ten minutes to play.
Emery was pleased to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

When asked for his take on the performance, he said: “Fantastic. At Villa Park we are feeling very strong.
“We are feeling comfortable with our supporters and trying to enjoy it with them, transmitting our energy and transmitting our wishes to play and beat the opponent playing here against us.
“The supporters transmitted their energy and support, and the atmosphere was a fantastic atmosphere. We are excited for the FA Cup.
“Now we’re in the quarter-final and it’s a very important step forward we did today, to enjoy each moment, to enjoy this competition, to enjoy the quarter-final and the way for a trophy.
“We are trying to get a way for Europe and trying to get a way to Wembley. We will be motivated for it and we will be sharing this moment with our supporters.”
Asensio and Marcus Rashford combined for both goals in the club’s previous outing at Villa Park and they linked up again to help Villa open the scoring.

The pair’s contributions since joining on loan in the winter transfer window has given Emery even more reason to be positive for the remainder of the season.
“They are adapting of the structure we can have being strong really quick,” he said.
“We are wishing for their adaptation to be quick and trying to get everything as soon as possible.
“They have a lot of skills to add in our structure, helping us like they are doing. They are scoring goals and getting assists for their teammates, playing in our structure and feeling comfortable.
“They’re getting more confidence. It’s important how every player is trying to support and to help in our structure, getting us as strong as possible.”
