New signing Donyell Malen could be in contention for his Aston Villa debut at Arsenal on Saturday.

The forward completed his move to Villa on Tuesday, too late to feature in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory at Everton.

But the Netherlands international is set to be available for this weekend’s Premier League trip to Emirates Stadium.

Otherwise, manager Unai Emery has an unchanged squad to select from following our midweek triumph at Goodison Park.

That means midfielders John McGinn and Ross Barkley as well as defenders Pau Torres and Diego Carlos remains on the sidelines.

Ross Barkley.

Asked whether Malen will be involved in Villa’s matchday squad, Emery replied: “Could be, yes.”

He added: “Pau Torres is still out, not available for tomorrow, John McGinn is starting to train on the field, but not for tomorrow.

“Ross Barkley is still out, Diego Carlos this morning, in the medical report, he’s not feeling good and I think he’s not going to be (available) for tomorrow as well.

“Hopefully the other players, we are going to train now, they can be there.”
