Ezri Konsa is aiming to help Aston Villa extend their five-game unbeaten run in the Premier League against Wolves on Saturday.

Unai Emery’s team make the short trip to Molineux on the back of three draws and two wins in the top flight, a sequence that stretches back to December.

Konsa netted in a 3-1 victory over Wanderers in the reverse fixture back in September, and he’s hoping for the same outcome this weekend.

“I think it’s important to continue the form we’re in right now,” he said.

“It’s been a season of ups and downs, but I think that’s normal. We haven’t been as consistent as we wanted to, but we’ve picked up form now.

“Saturday is going to be a tough game, but I’m hopeful we can get the three points.”

He added: “It’s going to be a great atmosphere.

“There will be a lot of Villa fans in that away section along the side, so I’m looking forward to it and we’ll see what happens.”

The game against Wolves comes hot on the heels of Wednesday night’s big result in the UEFA Champions League, a 4-2 victory versus Celtic.

Konsa has relished playing in the competition for the first time and testing himself against the best players in Europe.

The 27-year-old has seen the club take huge strides since he joined in 2019, and qualification for the round of 16 is the latest step forward.

“It’s my first time in a competition that I’ve always wanted to play in. This season, being my first and going to the last 16, has been a great campaign so far,” he said.

“When I first joined we were fighting to stay up and managed to do it on the last day of the season.

“Fast forward to now and to see us playing in the Champions League, it’s been amazing progress.”
