Ollie Watkins was pleased to have notched his 13th Premier League goal of the campaign on Saturday evening, which secured all three points in a 1-0 win over Brentford.
The England striker broke the deadlock four minutes into the second half as Villa stood firm in the capital to maintain their clean sheet and record a third-successive win in all competitions.
And Watkins is now keen to move on and continue building momentum, both individually and collectively.
Describing his goal, he said: “I like to pull out to that left channel and run at defenders one-v-one. That’s one of my strengths.
“I had the ball under my feel a little bit, and just thought: ‘I’m going to hit it hard and low’. (It was) Nice to see it go through the goalkeeper’s legs.
“I came away with a goal, got a clean sheet and the three points, so (we) move on now.”

Speaking specifically about a striker’s instinct, and how he assesses his personal campaign so far, Watkins added: “I think the way we play, sometimes the boss doesn’t want us to press and go all out, because he doesn’t want us to get picked off.
“We have to keep a good structure, and sometimes it’s hard for me and Morgan (Rogers), taking care of the whole back four and keeping a good shape.
“A lot of the time, we’re tired, but that’s the game of a striker. You’ve got to stay mentally ready for a chance and when you get it, and obviously put it away.
“I think I can push on and definitely score more goals. That’s one thing that I’m hard on myself.
“I’ve got 13 (league) goals this year, but I should definitely have a lot more. Come the end of the season, I will. That’s what I’m striving for every day.”

With a Champions League round of 16 second leg tie against Club Brugge to come on Wednesday, the 29-year-old dismissed any chance of the Villans resting on their laurels, as they take a 3-1 lead from the first leg to Villa Park.
Watkins concluded: “Brugge are actually one of the best teams I’ve played against. It’s so hard to play against them. Man for man, it’s just like one big five-a-side, so it’s going to be tough.
“We can’t take it for granted, the two-goal lead, and we’re going to have to make sure we do all we can to make it difficult for them, because they’re going to be bringing their A-game.”
