Axel Disasi insists Aston Villa must “finish the job”, ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second leg visit of Club Brugge on Wednesday evening.

Unai Emery’s side welcome the Belgian outfit to Villa Park with a healthy lead already established, having triumphed 3-1 in the first leg last week.

Despite a “great game” in Bruges, Disasi admits “anything can happen” in the Champions League, and knows he and his teammates must remain focused in order to book their place in the quarter-finals.

He said: “We played a great game there. The first one was great. We won there, and now we just have to finish the job.

“We know that it will not be easy, because it’s a very strong team and, in the Champions League, anything can happen.

“We just have to finish the job, stay focused and play the same game that we played there.”

Reflecting further on the first leg, the Deadline Day arrival spoke of his pride at having made his Champions League debut at Jan Breydelstadion.

He is hoping to create even more memories in the second leg, in helping Villa reach the last eight of the prestigious competition.

“It was my Champions League debut for all of my career, so it was great,” Disasi added.

“Very great to have this feeling with the music, and all my family was there.

“It was very nice to have this feeling. It was something that I was looking for, so I’m very happy to achieve this.

“Now, I hope that the game of today, we will win again and go into the next stage.”
